Look out for:
Sid Griffin has a new solo album released in September 2005. Entitled As Certain As Sunrise, it is his second solo release and includes 12 tracks.
As Certain As Sunrise
The album features a number of new Sid Griffin songs, plus covers of an unreleased Doug Sahm track, The Flamin' Groovies' You Tore Me Down and I Come And Stand At Every Door, a track once covered by The Byrds.
Cover CDs
The Long Ryders featured on not one but two cover mounted CDs in UK magazines recently.
The August 2005 issue of UNCUT magazine featured 3 different REM covers, each with a different CD compiled by the band members. Disc 1, compiled by Mike Mills included And She Rides by The Long Ryders, alongside a very Paisley Underground collection of tracks by bands such as Green On Red, Dream Syndicate, The Jayhawks and Jason & The Scorchers.
The September 2005 issue of MOJO included a CD of Bob Dylan cover versions, including The Long Ryders classic take on Masters Of War.
Tracks on Upcoming Compilations
Three things to look out for in the coming months.
An unreleased track from Sid Griffin, called Sharleen will feature on a compilation called US Rock - Back On Track. Sid will backed on the track by Swedish rock band The Refreshments, and the song is reputedly more akin to The Coal Porters pre-bluegrass style.
In lieu of a new album from Western Electric, the band feature on two new tribute albums - one for ex-Plimsouls man Peter Case, the other for 60s legends The Buffalo Springfield. No details on the tracks involved or even the labels so stay tuned!
